Since 1986, the Louisiana Children’s Museum has elevated the potential of children through transformative, play-based learning. Rooted in our Reggio Emilia approach to early education, our world-class 8.5-acre City Park campus sparks curiosity, connection, and discovery across generations.

Forty years after sparking a movement that shaped generations of young minds, the visionary women who founded the Louisiana Children’s Museum are receiving its highest honor.
Co-founders Karin Giger, Louise McIlhenny, Cathy Pierson, and Candy Weiss will be awarded the 2026 Great Friend to Kids Award at the 40th Anniversary Play Soirée, presented by Manning Family Children’s, on Saturday, Nov. 14 at LCM’s City Park campus.
