Big kids, big dreams! Louisiana Children’s Museum is “aging up” with a brand-new program just for older kids and teens. Character Catalyst sparks curiosity, creativity, and community while helping tomorrow’s leaders grow today. Character Catalyst is made possible by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
Be a Catalyst for Change
At LCM, we believe character is contagious. When teens shine, the whole community glows. Ready to see what happens when character and creativity collide? Come spark something amazing with Character Catalyst.
Through hands-on activities and mentorship, teens can explore what it really means to be a good neighbor, a creative thinker, and a team player. They’ll practice traits like reflection, leadership, and service—while having fun and earning a stipend for their contributions.
Throughout the semester, 9th and 10th grade participants will explore the civic and intellectual virtues of community awareness, neighborliness, service, gratitude, curiosity, and more through interactive sessions with our LCM educators, local role models, and other teens in the city. There is also a work-study component in which teens will have the opportunity to work in the Museum for a few hours each weekend to understand our exhibits, consider guests’ needs, and learn about engaging children in play.
- Applications are open for our summer semester.
- The first summer session runs June 1 to June 26 and the second session runs June 29 to July 27.
