Celebrate Family Folklife Day at LCM
Join us for our 5th annual Family Folklife Day on Saturday, October 3, 2026! We’re celebrating the unique traditions and cultural connections of our own local communities through a full day of related programming at the Louisiana Children’s Museum.
In honor of Louisiana Folklife Month, LCM will buzz with performances, hands-on activities, and storytelling stations that celebrate the vibrant cultures of our Louisiana home. Families will explore, create, taste, and share traditions that connect generations.
Featured Events
- Live performances and cultural demonstrations
- Family story stations and interview booths
- Local food tastings and cooking fun
- Music, dance, and language exploration
- Fishing, weaving, art-making, and more across our indoor/outdoor campus
Kids and families can even record their own stories and memories, turning today’s moments into tomorrow’s treasures.
Why Folklife?
Folklife is the music we sing, the foods we cook, the stories we share, and the everyday ways we stay connected. It’s living culture, passed down and reinvented by each new generation. Family Folklife Day uplifts our youngest culture-keepers—our “future ancestors”—with joyful opportunities to celebrate their heritage and discover their neighbors’.
