Louisiana Children’s Museum Hosts International Reggio Emilia Exhibit

The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) is thrilled to host the internationally acclaimed exhibit, Mosaic of Marks, Words and Material, inspired by the globally respected Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. This free exhibit, sponsored by Agenda for Children, will be open from November 2025 through March 2026, culminating with the NAREA Winter Conference in New Orleans.

This exhibit, direct from Reggio Emilia, Italy, operates as an atelier, combining a hands-on workshop space with a showcase of children’s drawings and narrative work. It highlights the many decisions children make in expressing their thoughts through drawing and selecting materials, offering adults deep insight into the richness of children’s expression.

LCM and Agenda for Children invite educators, parents, and caregivers to explore the atelier, where they can experiment with diverse tools and surfaces. Guests will be encouraged to reflect on their own thought processes and plan how to better observe and listen to children. Rooted in the philosophy that children are capable and competent, this exhibit makes the vital process of children making meaning of their world visible to the community.
