Accessibility
Kids are amazing. Every single one of them. That’s why we’re committed to providing an accessible experience for all to ensure every child feels welcomed upon entering our big blue doors.
Handicap Accessibility
Handicap accessibility is first and foremost a consideration, with wheelchair access a priority. All tables and interactive spaces offer ADA-compliant access. Our Bubble Studio will allow children and adults alike to roll a chair into the bubble exhibit and pull the magic around them. Our signature “Kindows” (kids + windows) have accessible lookouts on each floor.
Geographic Accessibility
By locating in the middle of New Orleans’ City Park, LCM offers geographic accessibility. Not only is the park surrounded by neighborhoods filled with families seeking quality experiences, but there is also easy transportation access (Interstate 10 has a nearby exit, five bus lines and a streetcar stop within walking distance.).
Financial Accessibility
Financial access is offered through a variety of methods. The Helis Foundation generously funds free admission on designated Sundays, school field trip rates are less than half general admission entry, and Community Spaces are offered free of charge to all participating families.
LCM is also a part of Museums for All, a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This program allows us to offer general admission to the Museum for a minimal fee of $2 per person (for up to four people) for Louisiana residents (with the presentation of a Louisiana SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and a Louisiana State photo ID. Similar free and reduced admission rates are available to eligible members of the public at more than 700 participating museums across the country.
As of April 15: The Museums for All program will see a change that will allow Louisiana Residents Only with a Louisiana SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and A Louisiana State photo ID general admission to the Museum for a minimal fee of $2 per person (for up to four people). This change is to ensure we’re allowing as much access as possible to our local community and to encourage our neighbors from various background to visit our museum regularly.
Universal Design Accessibility
It has been said that “no one fails museums!” We seek to have a positive experience for every child who visits and have designed interactive experiences for all types of learners. Whether you learn by creating something with your hands, being physically active in your exploration, or are inspired by stories or music you hear – or another way of learning – we offer it all! Open-ended, imaginative play is our specialty, and each visit will offer something new!

Museum Policies
We have a few rules to make sure the museum is safe, fun, accessible, and inclusive for everyone. But the main rule is to have so much fun that your cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
