We were born for field trips. Across 8.5 acres, indoors and out, the LCM gives kids of all ages the chance to learn with their senses.
*Please note we are currently fully booked through May 9, 2024.
2-hour blocks available Wednesday – Friday starting at 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
As of February 1, 2024 all field trips booked will be subject to a $105.00 non-refundable booking fee. This amount will be deducted from your group’s total admission at the time of payment. A deposit invoice will be sent to your booking email.
Upon booking, a deposit invoice in the amount of $105.00 will be sent to the booking email address. Deposits are due within one week of the booking inquiry. If a deposit is not received within one week, your request will be cancelled. Deposits can be made by credit card, cash or check. If you need to process your payment over the phone, please call 504-523-1357 and ask for Corrin McManus or Candice Lobban.
LCM requires one (1) adult chaperone for every four (4) children. Accompanying adults must be 18 years old or older to qualify as a chaperone. We strongly encourage schools to work within this ratio in order to ensure that students have the best possible field trip experience. All adults must be registered with their class. Adults not registered in advance must pay museum general admission cost. Unregistered parents may be turned away due to capacity regulations.
Upon availability, LCM offers a private lunch space for groups at the end of a scheduled field trip if field trip lunches are ordered through Dickie Brennan & Co. The lunch space must be booked in advance and box lunches must be ordered at least 5 days in advance of your field trip. Please indicate on your field trip registration form if you would like to order box lunches.
If your group is bringing your own lunches, space is available on our event lawn for a picnic-style lunch.
Bus drop off is located in front of the museum on Henry Thomas Drive. After drop off busses should park in designated bus parking across from City Park’s Storyland.
Your group will have a designated amount of time to explore and enjoy four of our exciting galleries, Follow That Food, Dig Into Nature, Move With The River and Make Your Mark during their visit.
Children will learn the epic journey food takes as they go from the fields and coastal waters to international ports and stores and finally to their fork in our Follow That Food gallery. In our Dig Into Nature gallery, children get an up-close look at the wild natural world we are so lucky to call home. The Make Your Mark gallery empowers children to make their own mark and become the mark makers of the future. Go hands-on with the mighty Mississippi river as children learn about its amazing journey from the Twin Cities to the Gulf of Mexico.
The field trip coordinator will review the submitted request for accuracy, completeness, and availability and notify the school/group with a final confirmation within 7 business days of the request. The final confirmation will include payment due.
A field trip, nonrefundable deposit of $105.00 is due one week from the date of the booking inquiry. This amount will be deducted from your group’s total admission at the time of payment. All payments are due upon final confirmation of your field trip reservation. If payment is made in advance, any excess funds will be refunded within two weeks of your visit. We accept cash, check and credit cards. Checks should be made payable to the Louisiana Children’s Museum.
Please contact our field trip coordinator as soon as possible by emailing fieldtrips@lcm.org. Field trips may be rescheduled up to two weeks prior to your scheduled date. Cancelled, paid-in-full field trips may request a refund up to two weeks prior to their scheduled date. The deposit for these cancelled trips will be deducted from the total refunded amount.
Please email any additional questions or requests to fieldtrips@lcm.org.
