Prime Time
Prime Time Family Reading Time® is a unique six-week humanities-based program of reading, discussion and storytelling that emphasizes the importance of families reading together to discuss significant cultural and ethical themes. Created in 1991 by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, this statewide family literacy program with national affiliates creates a precondition for all future learning by empowering parents/guardians to help their children enjoy reading and improve their reading abilities. In light of statewide needs, the mission of Prime Time is to support intergenerational literacy and offer opportunities for rigorous, thought-provoking, value-centered humanities experiences for children and their families.
LCM has been a proud host of Prime Time for many years, partnering in the fall and spring with local schools and community groups to implement the series in the Times-Picayune Theatre. We recently began partnering with Puentes New Orleans to offer a bi-lingual Prime Time program to New Orleans’ Latino community.
