Family Camp

Enhance parent’s understandings of how to prepare their young children for school.

Family Camp is a series of free Saturday morning events held by the Louisiana Children’s Museum. Families with elementary age children from local schools are invited to participate for this 8-week course. The aim of the Family Camp is to enhance parent’s understandings of how to prepare their young children for school by addressing as many facets of their development as possible – social, emotional, cognitive and physical. Tulane psychologists who specialize in early childhood talk about a specific topic, such as school readiness, discipline, effects of media on emotion, behavior and learning, etc. We are hoping to assist parents in raising healthy, happy and successful children by giving them information and also opportunities to ask questions or raise concerns they may have about their children’s development. Every week the family gets an age appropriate book associated with the theme for the week. Free memberships are provided to all participants, as well as snacks and door prizes!
