300 Wishes

Every Saturday in January and February

Take part in a collaborative art project that celebrates our city’s 300th birthday and our collective dreams for the future. Make a “birthday wish” on colorful candles and help LCM collect 300 wishes to commemorate New Orleans’ Tricentennial and Celebration of Dreams.


Eat, Play, Grow!

Thursdays beginning January 18

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.   

LCM is proud to reintroduce Eat, Play, Grow, a free, 11-week program that combines the latest science and research to teach children ages 2-5 and their parents how to make positive choices in areas that most affect health — nutrition and physical activity.

Eat, Play, Grow’s interactive and engaging lessons incorporate art, storytelling, music and movement activities to make learning memorable and fun! Parents are encouraged to attend as many of the 11 classes as possible to receive the maximum benefit for their family.

Attend a minimum of eight Eat, Play, Grow sessions and receive a family health and wellness prize package!

There is no cost to participate, however preregistration is requested by contacting Emily Barnitz, LCM Early Learning Manager at ebarnitz@lcm.org.


 

Meet Dr. Renee Horton, Author and NASA Engineer

Saturday, January 27

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  

Enjoy story time readings of Dr. Horton’s children’s book, Dr. H Explores the Universe! Learn about Dr. Horton’s work as a NASA engineer and her journey to become the first African American to receive a Ph.D. in Material Science with a concentration in Physics from the University of Alabama.


Mardi Gras Camp

February 14 – 16 

At LCM’s “Celebrate New Orleans” Mardi Gras Camp, children ages 5-8 will learn about New Orleans architecture, music, artists, and more as they explore Creole Cottages, musical instruments, and masterpieces in this one-of-a-kind hands-on camp experience!

Spring Break Camp

March 29 – April 4

“Our Own Backyard” Spring Break Camp is designed for children ages 5-8.  Campers will dig, plant, and investigate with soil and learn about New Orleans’ native plant and flower. Featured activities include creating a landscape design and planting a mini garden!

Camp will be held daily from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The daily camp fee is $40/day for LCM Members or $45 for Non-Members. Before and after care are available for an additional fee. For more information, please contact Emily Barnitz at (504) 266-2412 or ebarnitz@lcm.org
